A firend downloaded Spider and it runs okay until it gets to the point where it's supposed to say "The spider has bitten!" When he runs it, it searches for the files, he selects all his options, but when he accepts the options, he gets the error message: Access violation at address 0044F244 in module spider, exe read of address FFFFFFFF.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Obviously it shouldn't do that but have you tried to run Spider in SafeMode to see if it still errors?

This guy is a beginner when it comes to computers, so, no, he hasn't done that. Just the basics for him. He also tried running it from a disk but still the same message.

What operating system (version of Windows) does the computer have?

Don't know if it would be of any help or not but you could try re-downloading another copy of Spider and trying again with that. I have found that sometimes Spider downloads can be corrupted and not work properly.

After searching on spider.exe within this forum, I found a reference to swanksoft.com and the KillHistory program. I'm going to recommend my friend use that one.

    Thanks to everyone.
