Hi i spilled on my laptop and didnt react fast enough so the keyboard is shot. Could I be able to use my laptop with an external keyboard? Will that work?

It could work if the spilt liquid only affected the keyboard, only way to know for sure is to actually try an external keyboard.

What liquid was spilt on it ? Does the laptop still work apart from the keyboard ?

If an external keyboard works you should consider replacing the laptop's own keyboard. What make and model laptop is it ?

Unfortunately it was sugar soda I spilled. It wasn't too much though and the laptop seems to work just fine, except for the keyboard. I am able to use the on screen keyboard just fine. Thanks for the reply vakis. I have hope for this one.

It probably just needs a new keyboard fitted then. Tell us the make and full model and we can check if that's an easy thing to do.

    (who is 'vakis' ?)

Sorry Managed, vakis was from another thread, Good news though, I got me a wireless external kb and it works like a charm, I agree I could just buy a replacement keyboard for $40 but even though I have an iCore 7 processor, a TB of HD space, 8 gig of ram, this laptop is over 4 years old. HP's are good laptops but they are notoriously difficult to take apart

    It's a HP Envy Touchsmart, M7-020dx
