Spontaneous shutdown

    Toshiba laptop running Windows XP

    Lately I have been experiencing spontaneous shutdowns. Doesn't matter which program is running (it happens often during long back up sessions - tho not always). The unit is always plugged in during these episodes, and occasionally will give a warning dialog that battery power is low (even tho plugged in) just before shut down. Is this a hardware, or software issue? Any other ideas? Thanks all.
