Dear Sirs (first timer so excuse any mistakes , but help appreciated)

I found spy sheriff on my computer and was suspicious from the start as something did not seem right.
I already have microsofts anti spy and it picked it up removed some components but still had blue screen etc showing.
I also have nortons anti virus.
I also had adware and run it through that which again detected and removed certain components but still blue screen etc, but could now access internet.
I purchased xsoft spy and it did seem to do the trick, but saw your web site after researching further.


It would appear i have been attacked with mult trogans and adware/malware but believe these are now gone.:eek:
Now when i re-boot the pc it does not automatically connect to the network of pc's but can do manually so not a major problem but when starts the following occurs:

BLANK NOTEPAD
(this used to have the following when started up but deleted copy in case spy sheriff was trying to live again)
[.She11C1assInfo] DESKTOP
[email protected]%SystemRoot%\system32\she1132.d11 ,-21787

At the same time the following comes up with a windows warning sign, that the following file is missing.

c:\WINDOWS\system32\Kernels64.exe


If i cancel notepad and the system 32 sign the system starts up fine and appears to be running.

Please find a copy of log file , on thing i have noticed is a file marked:

Browsela.dls, i understand this was or is a trogan and none of my systems could defeat it but a trogan remover i used altered the name to this file, it was previously Browsela.dll


Any assistance greatly appreciated.
PS Is there anyway we can get back at these guys by legal means, they have caused me to spend considerable time trying to remove there stuff.

Before proceeding you will need to disable Microsoft's Anti-Spyware as it will interfere with the fix.


Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.

Click on Tools, Settings. In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.

Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).

Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).

After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.

Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.


Download Win32delfkil.exe: http://users.telenet.be/marcvn/tools/win32delfkil.exe
Save it on your desktop.
Double click on win32delfkil.exe and install it.
This creates a new folder on your desktop: win32delfkil
Close all windows, open the win32delfkil folder and double click on fix.bat.

The computer will reboot automatically.
After the reboot, the infection should be killed.


Download Cleanup from Here
  • A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
  • On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
  • Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
  • Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
  • A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
  • Click OK
  • DO NOT RUN IT YET


Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here.
  • Install ewido.
  • During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Launch ewido
  • It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
  • On the left side of the main screen click update
  • Click on Start and let it update.
  • DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

Click here for info on how to boot to safe mode if you don't already know how.


Now copy these instructions to notepad and save them to your desktop. You will need them to refer to in safe mode.


Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:


Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
  • When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
  • Save the report to your desktop



Run Cleanup:
  • Click on the "Cleanup" button and let it run.
  • Once it’s done, close the program.


Go to Control Panel - Internet Options. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.


Restart back into Windows normally now.


Do a Panda Active Scan. Be sure to save the log it creates.


Come back here and post a new HijackThis log, as well as the logs from the Ewido and Panda scans.


Reboot and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Many thanks for the info.

I have run the tests please find the attached log files as requested.

The query i have is when i opened Win32delfkil there was 4 program files marked as:

DEIFILES
FIX
REBOOT
SWREG

I could not see one marked as fix.bat, but run them so hopefully this worked.

PS when i re-booted the pc i still have the blank notepad and the warning notice for
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Kernals64.exe flash up on the screen, but the system still appears to work apart from this.

That would be because you have your computer configured not to show file extensions. The file FIX would be the fix.bat one.


Before proceeding we need to discable Microsoft Anti-Spyware as it will interfere with the fix.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.

Rescan with HijackThis, close all browser windows except HijackThis, put a check mark beside these entries and click fix checked.

Then boot to safe mode:


How to restart to safe mode


Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Put a tick by Standard File Kill.
  • In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time:


    C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernels64.exe

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vx.tll


  • Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file.
  • It will ask for confirmation to delete the file.
  • Click Yes.
  • Continue with that procedure until you have pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.
  • Killbox may tell you that one or more files do not exist.
  • If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.
  • Next in Killbox go to Tools > Delete Temp Files
  • In the window that pops up, put a check by ALL the options there except these three:
    • XP Prefetch
    • Recent
    • History
  • Now click the Delete Selected Temp Files button.
  • Exit the Killbox.


Boot back to Windows normally and post another HijackThis log please.

very many thanks for your help so far.

please find the attached two hi jack logs, one before and one after the fix.

when i re-booted the pc the system 32 kernal 64 DID NOT BOOT UP -so one success already.

after we rid this i will have to make a donation for services provided, it is a pity we cannot charge the instigators foe lost time and inconvenience caused.

Morning Cookiegal

The only problem appears to be that when the pc is re booted Notepad opens as a blank document.

When the virus attacks first appeared and i was cleaning some of these up and we had the system 32 kernal 64 coming up we had notepad opened at the same time which had the following,

[.She11C1assInfo] DESKTOP
[email protected]%SystemRoot%\system32\she1132.dll , -21787

Apart from this all looks well, if i exit notepad it seems to work ok antway.
if there is a majic fix for this it would be brilliant but not the end of the earth.

Let’s take a look at a start-up log from HijackThis. Open HijackThis.
Click on Open Misc Tools Section
Make sure that both boxes beside "Generate StartupList Log" are checked:
  • List all minor sections(Full)
  • List Empty Sections(Complete)
Click Generate StartupList Log.
Click Yes at the prompt.
It will open a text file. Please copy the entire contents of that page and paste it here.

Yes when i had the spy sheriff i also had several other malicious programs, trogans, dialers etc which i removed all but one which was the BROWSELA.DLL

This one i could not remove from the system by all the other routes so installed a trial version of trojan remover which picked it up.
I tried to delete /remove the file but it would not delete kept saying do not have permission , so via the trojan remover it altered the file to BROWSELA.DL$ (From memory).

It looks like i had the same trojan attempt at the weekend but this time microsofts anti spy picked it up and removed it.

please find attached copy of file for your reference.

Hope this helps but should you need any details please let me know.

PS WOULD IT HELP IF I NOW REMOVE THE TRIAL VERSION ?

Click here to download smitRem.exe.
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • It is a self extracting file.
  • Doubleclick the smitRem.exe and it will extract the files to a smitRem folder on your desktop.
  • Do not do anything with it yet. You will run the RunThis.bat file later in safe mode.


Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here.
  • Install ewido.
  • During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Launch ewido
  • It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
  • On the left side of the main screen click update
  • Click on Start and let it update.
  • DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.


Click here for info on how to boot to safe mode if you don't already know how.


Now copy these instructions to notepad and save them to your desktop. You will need them to refer to in safe mode.


Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:


Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.


Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
  • When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
  • Save the report to your desktop


Go to Control Panel > Internet Options. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.


Next go to Control Panel > Display. Click on the "Desktop" tab then click the "Customize Desktop" button. Click on the "Web" tab. Under "Web Pages" you should see an entry checked called something like "Security info" or similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the "Delete" button. Click OK then Apply and OK.


Restart back into Windows normally now.


Run ActiveScan online virus scan here

When the scan is finished, have it clean anything that it cannot clean. Make a note of the file location of anything that cannot be deleted so you can delete it yourself.
- Save the results from the scan!

Post a new HijackThis log along with the results from ActiveScan
