    Oldie:
Been using SpybotS&D's TeaTimer for months and found it to be excellant as a shield program. Quietly sits there and only occasionally alerts and asks what I wish to do about.... Is there a problem with it's functioning?

You could say that, yes, seeing as I uninstalled Spybot some days ago :D

I have this ongoing problem with AdAware SE and Spybot not being toooo friendly toward each other  Now AdAware is freezing up on me after about 80% of a full scan !!!

    Any advice ?

    Regards - Oldie

Sorry, Oldie. Both are such good programs. Haven't had any problems of conflicts between the two, so can't help you there. Since they are so widely used by TSG members, I'm sure someone knowledgeable will be along soon to help out. Good luck. (y)

Unfortunately, I'm not the knowledgeable person mach9 was hoping would turn up, but, just wanted to observe how surprised I am that you had clashes between Spybot and Adaware.

I've had versions of both playing happily on my old Win 98 box since they first became available and, apart from one identifying the others quarantine files as 'baddies', have had no problems. I did try running the TeaTimer but it slowed things down to halt, probably because I have other things monitoring my Registry as well.

If you don't already have it, perhaps you should get HijackThis and post a log so that someone who knows what's what can tell if you've got something nasty in your woodshed?;http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/ I assume you've been lurking here long enough to know all that stuff about putting HJT into its own folder and not 'fixing' anything yourself?

Try stopping adaware at about 50%, let it fix those items then run it again.

Can't do that cyber matey - when it hangs it hangs - the only way out is "cancel" however it will carry out a Smart system scan with no problems (y)

Perusing Lavasofts own help forum it would appear that this may well be a bug in SE - we will see

Many thanks for your help - Oldie
