How often does Spybot have available updates? I have been checking very often but have not received one as of yet.

The latest updates are listed on the right hand side of THIS page. Some indication of the updates frequency. Check for updates internally and regularly before you scan.

I'm running SB 1.1 Beta 5 myself, and I've just downed the beta updates.

Usually the final ones follow in a day or two, so stay tuned.

In general there's about a week between database updates.

The new resident module looks promising, I'll be trying that soon. :)

Can I get them by opening Spybot and going to "Online" and clicking "Search for Updates"? This is what I have been doing and it seems further back than the 1-13 update since I received one.

Also I look in my Spybot folder under Updates and there are 29 zip files in there. Most of them deal with language updates. Do I need these. I guess they were installed when I down loaded Spybot.

After I search for updates and download updates do I have to go in to the Spybot folder and unzip the file are is it done automatically?

The 1-13 Update is indeed the latest regular database update, and going to "Online" and clicking "Search for Updates is indeed the preferred way of downloading them.

The beta version is available here: http://studserver.uni-dortmund.de/~su1669/spybotsd/mainappb.zip

This download is only the SpyBotSD.executable file itself, so what you do, is first rename SpybotSD.exe in your SpyBot folder to SpybotSD.old
Unzip into the Spybot-S&D folder, and rename the unzipped SpybotSD-4-b5.exe to SpybotSD.exe.

Moreover, in order to enable beta updates, you need to go to Settings > Settings > Web Update and check "Also display available beta versions"

However, these are just that: beta versions, and although problems are exceedingly rare, you try this at your own risk.

I'd advise most everyone to stick to the regular version of SpyBot, and wait until the final version is ready.

In the Languages folder you can delete all other *.sbl files than English, if you don't need them.
