    Good afternoon everyone.

I downloaded and ran Spybot as suggested I do in answer to a problem which was resolved on another thread.

The Spybot program found at least 50 things that Ad-aware had missed, all the boxes which had a check mark in them I fixed.

There were several boxes which did not have a check mark in them, my question is what should I do with those? Do I need to leave them as they are? Or do I need to remove those as well?

I am new to computers and very new to this program so I would appreciate any help or suggestions anyone might give me.

    Thanks again.

As for the green items, these are just User tracks, recently viewed files, the history of visited sites, and the like.

Removing them cannot possibly cause a problem. And besides, SpyBot backs them up as well, so there's no risk at all.

It's just a question of how tidy and/or privacy conscious you are.
It's also a question of personal taste: For example, I prefer to keep on to the logfiles, as I find them informative.

In such a case, you go to Excludes > Products > Tracks, and check 'Log'. That way they will be excluded from future searches, and they will never come up again.

    SpyBot is very configurable.

Here are some excellent instructions on how to install and run the program.

Also have a look at the FAQ, and at the How to... page

Thanks Tony for the help and advice, this Spybot program seems to be an excellent tool. I want to personally thank you and the others for all your help, for it is much appreciated. You will never know what it means for a novice like me to have a place like this to go to when I run into problems.

    Have a great day!
