    Hi,
I uninstalled Spybot 1.4 and am trying to reinstall Spybot 1.5. When I finally get to install, it says Spybot is already on the computer and do I want to replace the one that's already there or something like that.

In addition, I checked my recycle bin and see that I sent aaw2007 there. I don't remember doing that. Did that happen when I uninstalled Spybot?
About Spybot. I wanted to install the newer edition because I thought there was a problem with the old one. Every time I clicked to open it the little loading line icon would start, go a little ways, then start over again. Also, it took FOREVER to load.

Another thing. I keep getting popups to install a new Java something-or-other, and without my agreeing to install, the Java icon appears in my bottom right tray. Then I get popups over and over telling me to install it.

I know next-to-nothing about technical stuff, so please be as elementary as possible with your response. Thank you so much.

    Try running this fix: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/howto/uninstall.html

Then you will have to reinstall the product.

Sounds like you need to reinstall Ad-Aware too.

    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
