Have read in several sources about "spyware." As a personal PC user, on a dial-up connection, should I be concerned? My internet connection does not, to my knowledge, block these. I do have Norton Internet Security 2004, and Norton Firewall 2002.
Also have read that there are free--or modestly paid for--programs designed to "root out and remove spyware." Names include SpySweeper at 222.webroot.com, www.spychecker.com, wwwspywareinfo.com, and others.
    Thank you for your comment.

Adaware and Spybot: Search and Destroy are 100% free work as well if not better then most paid programs. You can purchase Adaware for more functions but the free version is great at removing adware/spyware.

"As a personal PC user" - that makes you the primary target.

Dail-up makes no difference, everyone is a target.

No doubts about Ad-Aware being very good, but not so sure about spy-bot these days as its not being updated lately for some reason
