This is a revised version of the original post - it removes a key typo!

I'm hoping that I can get help in removing SpyWareQuake from my computer. According to Symantec this program changes the system registry and has to be removed manually. My OS is Windows XP Home.

So far I've done the following:

    (1) Run a Norton Antivirus scan and deleted any found infections.

    (2) Run ewido 4.0 and removed any spyware.

    (3) Read the Symantec help pages about this program and tried to edit my registry according to the instructions. However, the value and registry sub-keys that Symantec says should be there aren't (at least as far as I can see).

I use IE6 and Yahoo and my home page has been replaced by a home page from http://www.safetyhomepage.com/. This page advertises all kinds of security programs but I don't think it's legit.

In addition to this, in my tool bar, there is flashing yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. Regularly a window pops up warning me "System Alert: Spyware Detected." The triangle looks like the icon in the Post Icons section.

Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated.
