This is a known issue and there is currently a failure registered for it. Please perform the following steps to work around the problem.
Open the Client Network Utility. This can be found in the MS SQL Server program group on their system.
Make sure that the Named Pipes protocol is present in the "Enabled protocols by order" windows. If it is not present, then enable it by highlighting Named Pipes in "Disabled Protocols" window and click on the Enabled button.
Go to the Aliases tab and click on the Add button.
On the network protocol list make sure the Named Pipes protocol is selected.
Fill in the "Server Alias" with the name of the server that you are trying to connect to and then click the OK button.
Now click on the Apply button and then the OK button.
After completing these steps you should be able to establish a trusted connection with the SQL database.
