My laptop posts the message "Please wait while Windows prepares your computer for standby" during startup and never gets past it. Everything is frozen. There is static when any key is depressed and when I try to use the mouse. Any suggestions? Thanks, I'm a first time user and classify myself as computer illerate so please be patient.

    Welcome to TSG!

Laptops have some power management issues...

    Here's something to try...

    1. remove the battery and AC Adapter from the laptop.
    2. depress the power button and hold it for about 20 seconds.
    3. connect AC power ONLY and try to boot.

Let us know if the problem goes away!

    Good Luck!
