I just installed Linux on an old computer - running a Pentium 3.

It didn't come with a modem - which I need for dial up. Now I'm looking at what to purchase to ensure that it will work with my Linux Redhat 9 (kernel #2.4.20-2.48).

I'm purchasing in Canada - (if that makes any difference re:products).

Is there any modems that anyone knows will definitely work.

    London Drugs sells a US Robotics 56K -5686E - fax modem. V92.

On US Robotics web site I found a listing for a V.92 that states it's both Windows & Linux compatible - but the model number differs from the one advertised from London Drugs and the London Drugs specks don't identify it as Linux compatible - even though the pic's look the same.

I've done so much phoning around, browsing the web, reading forums today that my brain is going into melt down. I've run Linux for all of 3hours .

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
