At the end of booting up the computer the following error message is displayed.
Exshell.exe file is linked to missing export Explutil.DLL:?platGETDNS DomainName @@YAHPAD@Z
Also now my printer will only print straight lines where the characters would normally began. This occurred since the above noted error message appeared. Am I to assume they are related?
I found the file exshell.exe and when I try to open it the error message that I received upon bootup appeared again. There was some added info which was " a device attached to this system is not functioning" What do I do next?
The error message can be a tricky one to resolve as it no doubt points to a missing or incorrect version of a file required for the program to run. Probablly Explutil.DLL is either missing or not properly registered during the install.
Did this problem start after installing something? (Excite Shell?) Can you uninstall it? Look in Add\Remove programs for a reference.
A workaround would be to go to start>run and enter msconfig
When the System Configuration utility opens, click the "Startup" tab and look for an entry that is related to the fault. Clear the check for it and restart.
I fixed the problem by calling Roger@home It took a while for any of the support guys to fix it apparently it's a rare problem. Thanks for leading me on the right track.
