MSCONFIG shows a program is activated at startup, but it does not start. I notice that the program does not show a path listing like all the other startup programs. Is there some way to edit the startup list in MSCONFIG to add the path?

Hi,

Would you please tell us what that program is?

Also do this:

Go to Start/run, and type Msinfo32, followed by OK.
Go to Software Environment/Startup Programs.
Click Edit/'Select all', and then 'copy'
Now paste the contents here.

You could indeed edit the Pop-up Stopper string value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run to point to the correct executable, but a much better solution would be just to uninstall and reinstall the program.

The funny part is that the program used to start automatically, but then stopped for some unknown reason. So I did uninstall it and reinstalled it, but have the same problem. Unless there is a simpler way, I guess I will try to reinstall again, and if that doesn't do it I'll try to edit the registry per your suggestion. Thanks for your answers.

I just reinstalled the pop-up stopper, and all is well. Another of life's mysteries. Thanks again.
