starting network

Hi
i am starting to set up a network, (real basic)...what "great" articles would anybody suggest that are concise and explain well...including file transfers...any software recommendations, hardware recommendatiions.

Win2k and XP make it very easy to set up a network. Beside that, I can't suggest much because it's too broad.

This site has helped me along with many other people set up home networks.

As far as hardware goes, get each computer a PCI 10/100 Network Card. They come in many brands, some good ones are Linksys, NetGear, and D-Link. You might have one already installed in your computer(s). Check to see, because most computers within 4 years old have them. Don't forget you will need a card for each computer on the network.

Then you need a router, which is available in many brands also. I like the three brands I listed above personally.
