First time poster in this forum.

I have tried to get rid of my StartNow Toolbar in the (to me) normal ways, many times, over the last few weeks. It always comes back and is driving me bonkers!

I downloaded Hijack This & DDS; some of the log entries seem like obvious fixes, but I'll wait to do anything until I get an informed opinion.

    Here goes:

    Hiya Hendak,

    Do the following :-

Disable teatimer and leave off for now:

    1. Right click Spybot in the System Tray (looks like a calendar with a padlock symbol ) and choose Exit Spybot S&D Resident
    2. Run Spybot S&D
    3. Go to the Mode menu, and make sure Advanced Mode is selected.
    4. On the left hand side, choose Tools > Resident
uncheck Resident TeaTimer and OK any prompt and Restart your computer.

Note: If TeaTimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.

    Next,

Try to remove the following via Start > ControlPanel > Add/Remove Programs (if present):

    startnow toolbar
    conduitengine

    Next,

Download [IMG] OTL from any of the following links and save to your Desktop:

    Link 1
    Link 2
    Link 3
    Link 4
    • Double click on the icon to run it, Vista or Windows 7 users right click and select Run as Administartor. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • In the lower right corner, checkmark "LOP Check" and checkmark "Purity Check".
    • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in:

      Code:
            netsvcs
            %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
            /md5start
            explorer.exe
            winlogon.exe
            Userinit.exe
            svchost.exe
            eventvwr.exe
            /md5stop
            %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
            hklm\software\clients\startmenuinternet|command /rs
            hklm\software\clients\startmenuinternet|command /64 /rs
            CREATERESTOREPOINT

    • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post them in your reply
