I am running a fairly serious audio system on my computer (multitrack recording, wave editing, etc.) that runs & sounds a whole lot better when nothing else is. I have experimented with Windows Hardware Configuration (I am running 98 SE), but I am wondering if there is a way to create a completely separate startup configuration that I can run when I need optimum audio performance. All I want running in this mode is a basic desktop; without shortcuts, quicklaunch, background programs, utilities; or anything else that will adversely affect the audio. Thanks.
