Your computer is taking a long time to startup because it has a massive number of programs and services auto-starting. and it has multiple on-line backup schedulers.

----------------------------------------------------------

Click Start - Run, then type in

%temp%

then click OK.

Click Start - Run, then type in

c:\windows\temp

then click OK.

Once those 2 temp folders appear and you can view their contents, select and delete EVERYTHING that's inside them.

If a few files resist being deleted, that's normal behavior. Leave them alone and delete EVERYTHING else.

After you're done, restart the computer.

----------------------------------------------------------

Start HiJackThis, but don't run a scan.

Click on the "Open The Misc Tools Section" button.

Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button.

Click on the "Save List" button.

Save the "uninstall_list.txt" file somewhere.

It'll then open in Notepad.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the entire file here.

Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX needs to be updated to Adobe Flash Player ActiveX 11.0.1.152

Adobe Reader 8.2.4 needs to be updated to Adobe Reader 10.1.1

CCleaner needs to be uninstalled, unless you REALLY know how to use it safely.

Java(TM) 6 Update 5 needs to be uninstalled.

Java(TM) 6 Update 26 needs to be updated to Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.29(6 Update 29)

SearchAssist needs to be uninstalled.

SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition 5.0.0.1134 needs to be installed.
(Note: It works with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware in combating malware, spyware, rogues, hijackers, etc.)

------------------------------------------------------------------

After the above has been done and the computer restart, do the following:

Start SUPERAntiSpyware.

Click "Check for Updates".

When the definition files have updated, click "Close".

Select the Quick Scan option, then click "Scan your Computer".

If infections or problems are found during the scan, a list will appear and the number of them will be highlighted in red.

When the scan is finished and the scan summary window appears, click "Continue".

Make sure that EVERYTHING in the list is selected, then click "Remove Threats".

Click "OK - Finish".

If you're prompted to restart to finish the removal process, do so.

I missed one.

Windows Search 4.0 needs to be uninstalled.

--------------------------------------------------------

Go to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup" tab.

Write down the names in the "Startup Item" column that are checked.

If the column isn't wide enough to see the entire name of any of them, widen it.

Submit those names here in a vertical list.

Make sure to spell them EXACTLY as you see them there.

I'll then advise you which ones to uncheck.

Take your time doing it because I'm going off-line in a few minutes and won't be back here until morning.

I'm sorry but I don't believe any amount of Startup entries or installed programs would make a computer boot in 12 minutes. How long to boot into Safe Mode?

Go to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup" tab.

Uncheck the startup entries that I've highlighted in bold text.

I've also provided a link to them so you can what they are what they do.

Belkin Wireless Networking Utility

MozyHome Status

TivoNotify

TivoServer

TranscodingService

After you're done, click Apply - OK - Exit Without Restart.

Go to Start - Run - SERVICES.MSC - OK.

Double-click on these entries, one at a time, to open their properties window:

Adobe Active File Monitor V6 (AdobeActiveFileMonitor6.0)

FLEXnet Licensing Service

Google Update Service (gupdate1c9b019c81c0dc4) (gupdate1c9b019c81c0dc4)

Google Update Service (gupdatem) (gupdatem)

Java Quick Starter (JavaQuickStarterService)

SupportSoft Sprocket Service (dellsupportcenter) (sprtsvc_dellsupportcenter)

stllssvr

If the "Startup Type" is set on Automatic, change it to Manual, then click Apply - OK.

After you're done, close the window and then restart the computer.

When the small SCU window appears during restart and advises of the computer being in diagnostic/selective startup mode, ignore the message.

Do NOT change it back to normal startup mode!!!!

Put a checkmark in the lower left of that window, then click OK to close it.

Start HiJackThis, then click "Do a system scan and save a log file".

Save the new log that appears, then submit it here.

I'm wondering if all that TiVo-related stuff and on-line backup stuff is greatly extending the startup time.

That's why I'd be curious to see what a Clean Boot procedure would find...

Used Clean Boot and it took a little less time about 11 minutes. After the Clean Boot I made the suggestions by Flavallee and rebooted. No change in the start up time. Here is the HiJackthis Log.

Go back to Start - Run - SERVICES.MSC - OK.

Write down only the names that have their "startup type" set on Automatic.

Submit those names here in a vertical list and in alphabetical order.
