I ran msinfo32 and found a few programs that I'm not sure what they do. Heres my startup:
Drempels Desktop Startup Group C:\WINDOWS\drempels.exe /y
    AIM Registry (Per-User Run) C:\PROGRAM FILES\AIM95\aim.exe -cnetwait.odl
    RamBooster Registry (Per-User Run) C:\PROGRAM FILES\RAMBOOSTER\RAMBOOSTER.EXE
ScanRegistry Registry (Machine Run) C:\WINDOWS\scanregw.exe /autorun
    SystemTray Registry (Machine Run) SysTray.Exe
    CDInterceptor Registry (Machine Run) cdi.exe
    Launcher Registry (Machine Run) SELaunch.exe
    TBTray Registry (Machine Run) tbtray.exe
Tweak UI Registry (Machine Run) RUNDLL32.EXE TWEAKUI.CPL,TweakMeUp
    SxgTkBar Registry (Machine Run) SxgTkBar.exe
    TaskMonitor Registry (Machine Run) C:\WINDOWS\taskmon.exe
LoadPowerProfile Registry (Machine Run) Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,LoadCurrentPwrScheme
    Norton Auto-Protect Registry (Machine Run) C:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~1\NORTON~2\NAVAPW32.EXE /LOADQUIET
Tweak UI Registry (Machine Service) RUNDLL32.EXE TWEAKUI.CPL,TweakLogon
SymTray - Norton SystemWorks Registry (Machine Service) C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SymTray.exe "Norton SystemWorks"
LoadPowerProfile Registry (Machine Service) Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,LoadCurrentPwrScheme
    SchedulingAgent Registry (Machine Service) mstask.exe

My question was does anybody know what the "launcher" and "CDI" do, google search turned up nothing for me.

CDI is CD indexer for measuring the speed of cd players. You don't need it.

Launcher, I don't know. Uncheck it, and see what happens.

    Good luck,

    launcher-sound, says not required

You can go here for an explanation of most of the rest and do a google search for what isnt listed.

There is a 'launcher' that is for sound, but that's relaunch.exe, and it is (according to http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.htm) the Phillips Rhythmic Edge audio applications launcher.

This is SElaunch.exe, which makes me believe we may be talking about a different app.

    Grtz.

Try this. Do a find files search for SElaunch.exe

Find the folder containing it. See if there's a readme or explanation of its function. I did a quick search for Launcher Registry and go t a few hits. But nothing on SELauncher.exe

In the meantime, if you don't know what it is, uncheck it. If Windows or another program complains you can recheck it.

Well, I'm not on that computer right now so I'll have to try these things when I get home. I do have philips siesmic edge sound card so maybe that's what it is. Actually, that makes sense, because the SE would stand for siesmic edge. Not really sure what it does though cause I disabled in in msconfig, and my sound still works.
