Ok, I have an issue I think & I don't know how to track it down. When I run msconfig, I find startup items that are only identified as squares (as in one after the other in wing ding font style). This is also true of its command line. The only information it does show is "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows:Run" Likewise, ther is another that reads "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows:Load". Both of t hese will reinitialize themselves on reboot even is I turn them off. Virus? Spyware? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Howdy Aongus...

It could be both or either...

Go here Hyjackthis, and download and install Hyjackthis, open the program and click on Scan, once the scan completes, click on Save log, then open the log and copy, and paste the contents back here...

I would but in my haste to get rid of something I know wasn't there a few weeks ago, I decided to revert back to an older saved configuration. In that haste, I removed (hopefully) any trace of what may or may not have been a harmful virus/spyware. Thanks for your help anyway. I will keep an eye on this from now on & have taken your advise & downloaded the Hyjackthis application.
