Is there any way besides the selective startup option under msconfig to permanently disable startup items?? I'm starting up and only having 67% free resources at startup.

    BTW: I'm running XP Pro

You may also want to disable running processes to free system resources, there are a lot of them that are not needed by the average user. go here answersthatwork and disable what is recommended you should see a big difference in performance. Also if you want more options and some performance tips try blackviper ..
