After installing Windows XP Pro from XP Home my computer does not display the startup taskbar. I don't know if I have a virus or not but maybe someone can analyze my HighJack log. Also, when I type, the cursor randomly lets the last letter/number to go ahead of the cursor so that the next letter is behind the one I just typed. Very annoying!

If you can get into the Control Panel, open the Taskbar and Start folder and be sure that "Keep the Task bar on top of other windows is checked.
Pressing the Windows Key on your keyboard will bring up the Start button and the Start Menu.

Taskbar/Startup options are all correct, and the Windows button does not work. I ran Lavasoft Ad-Aware and it found 17 items. I erased them and rebooted. Still no startup taskbar

By Startup taskbar, do you mean the Start Menu? And pressing the Windows key doesn't bring it up?
Try running Spybot Search and Destroy after you update it, remove anything it finds.
If still no joy, post your Hijack This log in Security and let some expert look at it.

It found 2046 infected items, but no startup taskbar. I will post it on the security forum. Thank you for your advice.
