Startup is easy - just go msconfig and cancel the startup items you don't need (U obviously know what to shut down or not) - if not just say so

Shutdown is even easier - There is a registry value that determines how long shutdown takes - you can just make it less...

I'll find it for you and post it ASAP

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

"WaitToKillServiceTimeout" should have a value of about 20.

Reduce it slightly and reboot...see what happens...

If everything seems fine, just reduce it again...reboot...

Repeat until you get to a value of about 4. You shouldn't have any problems at 4.

MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP EVERY TIME BEFORE YOU CHANGE A SETTING!!!

I don't mean to be patronising but you probably know this... (U set advanced;))
If not then just say so and I'll do a step-by-step
