Starup problems

    My computer (HP) was working fine - have windows 95 or higher. When i attempted to hit ctrl alt delete to reboot after a freeze. it wouldnt so i did a cold boot. Now a black screen comes up and says disk boot failure or system boot failure and then something about inserting a disk.. i cant even get into safe mode... whats wrong? im intermediate

    It seems that the system files are missing or the Command interpreter is corrupted.

    Boot the computer with a startup diskette. A startup diskette can be downloaded from www.bootdisk.com. Bring the computer to a Command Prompt. At the prompt type the following:

    Sys C:

    Press Enter. After the system files are transfered, remove the startup diskette and restart the computer.
