I just bought a new game online at the steam website but when I downloaded and tried to run the steam application, the initial updates would just load 26% then stop loading any more. I have tried repairing and reinstalling it but it just doesnt work.

Does anyone know what to do?

What do you mean by 'clean install'?

I mean that you uninstalled everything that had to do with steam, then reinstall. Not just selecting 'repair' out of the options in the steam setup after you already installed. Try that then post if the problem persists.

Okay good. Check Steam Support and go to Troubleshooting or something like that.
