Can anyone please suggest any good online websites or books that provide step-by-step guides to generic setups for servers and networking? It has to be easier than this. They say you learn by doing it so that's what we thought. There are some companies that have training videos and CD's but last time I forked over $500 by Learn2it and all I can say was it was pityful and surprisingly lacked practical labs. Maybe it is time to read a real thick <blank> 400 page book?

No ideas huh? Sure could use some suggestions if you know of any. Or how about a certain favorite author that likes to write IT books in a step-by-step nature in chapters. Thanks

Books, books and more books. Wrox Press has some good ones. Who said networking was supposed to be easy? Some parts of it are easy and others take a lot of planning and forethought. And there is no substitute for experience and actually getting your hands dirty.

Not a big fan of cookbooks! Default installs will only get your server hacked.
