    Hello,

I play guitar and bass through my computer and record with Windows Movie Maker and Audacity from my soundcard using 'Stereo Mix'. I have Windows 10.

Everything was working just fine yesterday and I recorded a track.
TODAY, Stereo Mix, despite being enabled and set as the default device is not even picking up sound (as it can usually be seen by the green bar next to it).
I use headphones to listen to my playing.

All of the settings in my Movie Maker and Audacity are the same. All of my audio settings are the same as yesterday.

I would greatly appreciate your help as this is my hobby and my joy to share music with my friends. I'm not very tech savvy so please use layman's terms. Untitled.png Untitled2.png

    Thank you,
    punkkid

That would be a Windows or audio driver issue, not the apps used to record. And if you aren't seeing the volume meter change, Windows may not actually be getting any input.

Try using a different device to supply an audio input.

You could also disable Stereo Mix, reboot, manually update/reinstall the audio drivers, enable Stereo Mix and then test again.
