    Hello,
I hope I am doing this correctly. I have read alot from this forum and followed many instructions to remove this problem. But it persists.

I am using spybot s&d and hijack this. And I ran msconfig and looked at the startup file.

(I even removed a line from the Hijack this list that had "proxy override" in it. Dumb, I know. Don't know what it did.) But I was unable to find the "sys.reg" file or other files mentioned in the forum as 'bad.'

I have pasted my hijack this file below.

    Welcome to TSG!

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close all browser windows and "Fix checked"

    O4 - Global Startup: MSupdater.exe

Restart to Safe Mode: press f8 on startup and select Safe Mode from the boot menu.

In Safe Mode Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options" make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders" In the "All or part of the file name" box type:

    MSupdater.exe

    Click "search"

When it is found right click it and choose "delete"

If this doesn't take care of it post back. Lately the SearchV hijack has been tough to remove. we have some additional steps we can take if it returns after this.
