Hi, I have been getting the dreaded blue screen of death with STOP: c000021a (Fatal System Error)" Error Occurs when i log into my windows 2000 service pack 3 and my linksys wireless usb network adapter connects me to the internet. My computer will remain on and run fine if i do not connect to the internet. This also will happen if i connect to the internet using my backup 56k modem. Any suggestions on what is happening?

not sure if you have an infection or what could be going on. but might want to start by running Hijack This and posting the results for somebody to look at.

    Download Hijack This from http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTSetup.exe

Save the setup file on your desktop
Double click on it and by default it should install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This
Continue through the setup and have it create a desktop icon for you
Follow all the prompts, click Finish, and have it start Hijack This
Click the "Do a System Scan and Save a Log File" option
Save the log file and then it should open with Notepad

Go to Edit, Select All and then Edit, Paste to paste the contents of the log here
Make sure you DO NOT fix anything with Hijack This yet. Most of the things in the log are normal or required.

If you get into safe mode the first thing i would do is back up all data.

I may be wrong but it seems to me I had a similar error message a while back and was told that was a sign of a problem in Windows that was an omen of the hard drive going bad. Again i could be wrong as this was a month or two ago. Turns out so far I have not crashed but I am thinking it was a very similar message to yours
