What kind of a computer is it?
    How much ram?
    CPU
    What OS, I presume XP.
This sounds like a memory problem. Either Video card or Main Ram.

What network card do you have? Does this usually happen at any particular time, like when downloading?

The NDIS driver (Network Driver Interface Specification) is involved with network transport.

    1. make sure that your memory modules are firmly pressed in
    2. Start | run |type compmgmt.msc | event viewer | application - what errors are you getting? (double click for an explanation.)
    3. Try a memory testing program.
    4. Does this happen in safe mode?
    5. In normal mode, remove drivers one by one until it stops - load MS approved driver.
