I've turned off all the auto-play functions -- for each type of CD, I told it to take no action (annoying how you have to specify each type of CD and each drive separately... more Windows "idiot-proofing" that just makes things more difficult for people who don't want to be locked into the defaults) -- but when I insert a CD, a "My Computer" window still opens up displaying the drive's contents, even though I specifically said take no action. How do I stop this stupid window from automatically coming up?

    Check out www.dougknox.com

He has the patches you are looking for, they work great.

He also has the feature for grouping programs where you can change the default.
