Strange keyboard issues

Hi all,
I just this week have built my first pc ever parts:
Mag b550 tomahawk
Ryzen 3700x
Rtx 2080 super
16gb ddr4 ram
A 1tb m.2 for storage.
After first install everything worked fine for 3-4 hours. Then my mouse and keyboard started flickering on and off. An hour or so later the keyboard stopped working indefinitely (the lights weren't showing and no input was being received) My mouse however worked fine. I researched on this a bit and saw how it could be a driver related issue. I reinstalled all drivers, I unticked and removed the power saving options that take power from the usb ports. What I have now realised is that the keyboard doesn't work even before windows is booted. This made me think it was a hardware fault. So i sent back the motherboard and got a replacement. Low and behold i am having the exact same issue. I have tried flashing the bios but am not sure if i did it right. I also cannot even get in the bios at all as there is no keyboard for me to press delete on before boot up. I have tried reinstalling windows completely also with no luck. I wanted to try turning off legacy usb devices to see if that worked.

So just to be clear: my mouse works in all usb slots. I have tried 3 keyboards and none of them are picked up in any of the usb slots (some of the time they get power sometimes not) when plugged in it comes up on device manager as a usb keyboard but no input is accepted. All three keyboards work on any other device. Could someone please help because this is driving me crazy.

Slight discovery I have made. If I hold down for a very long time on a key it will pick it up after 2-3 seconds

Could it be a faulty part like gpu cpu. If anyone has any idea at all that would be appreciated.

Try connecting the keyboard to the Usb port shown on page 11 of the motherboard manual, the one nearest to the PS/2 socket.

What PSU do you have ?

Yep it's in there, its so strange, I have managed to get one keyboard out of the three working. The ones that don't seem to come up with a load of drivers on device manager. Whereas the ones that work come up with less. It seems to have "vendor controlled device" do you think that could have anything to do with it. Also I got into bios with the one working keyboard and disabling legacy usb made no difference

Just built my own desktop and getting an issue that is making me think I'm going insane. I have 3 keyboards. Keyboard number 1: (Wired has backing lights)When I plug my keyboard in to the usb 2.0 slots the lights will come on (sometimes they won't) but there will be no input from the keyboard. However in the usb 3.0 slots I get a driver error saying the device can't be found. Keyboard 2: (wired has backing lights) this one has the exact same on the usb 2.0 slots but on the usb 3.0 slots it just has the same issue again where it lights up but their is no input. Keyboard 3: bluetooth no backing light. Works fine in any slot. My mouse works fine in any slot.

All these devices work perfectly fine on any other device. I have checked the drivers on the computer that works verses the one where it doesnt and they are the exact same (bar keyboard 1 in a usb 3.0 slot)

I have since replaced the motherboard and am getting the exact same issue. I thought it might be the psu but a quick google search said my system should only be using about 500 w and my psu is 750 w. Also if it was a faulty psu why would some work and not others.

I have tried everything I can think of:
Flashing the bios. Reinstalling windows. All the power settings regarding turning usbs off and on. Enabling and disabling legacy devices in bios. Flushed the power(held power for 15 seconds.)

The keyboards do not work before windows boots up either. Anyone got any before I reorder every single part.

What strikes me as strange is it doesn't seem to be a hardware or software issue. Could it be my pc is not compatible with rgb light up keyboards? I have no issues with any other type of device. USB drives work external optical drives work, this makes me fail to see how it can be a hardware issue. And yet the issue persists even in the bios. I'm honestly baffled and have no clue what's gone on. Maybe my keyboard is damaging the motherboard in a way that only affects keyboards?

I've merged both of your threads together. Please do not start more than one thread for the same issue.

Trying first as per my colleagues suggestion connecting keyboard to usb as he mentions - on I/O plate next to PS2 connector.

IF that does not work please clarify this
When I plug my keyboard in to the usb 2.0 slots the lights will come on (sometimes they won't) but there will be no input from the keyboard. My mouse works fine in any slot.
as in bold are you saying that THIS keyboard - number three works OK on the new computer.

Also
hould only be using about 500 w and my psu is 750 w. A
What is make and full model please

I also suggest you see this
https://storage-asset.msi.com/file/test_report/TR12_18157.pdf

I also suggest you post more detail of ram
16GB DDR4 means very little
How it is made up - eg 4 x 4GB etc
and exact ram specs are needed.
