Hello. I have an ALC Open computer running Windows XP with 256 MB of Ram and 1.46 GHz. I did a recent System rescue on the computer. It didn't work entirely so I had to do a complete restore with the result that all my files were deleted. I reinstalled the OS using my rescue disk. It seemed to work ok, I have internet access and the programs that are there seem to be working fine. I installed AVG antivirus and tried to insstall a program using the CDrom. When a place a disk, any disk, in the cd drive, the computer freezes up. I thought it was just a temporary thing, but it seems to freeze up pretty good. The drive makes all the loading noises, but nothing happens and I have to manually restart my machine. Can anyone tell me what to do next?

What does Device Manager say about the drive?
