I have the Strathclyde virus on another computer. I cannot open task manager or even the start menu. I cannot even view the desktop as when I log in a huge window appears (trying to connect to the internet). The computer has been disconnected from the internet since the virus made itself present. I can start in safe mode with no visible problem, but when starting in safe mode with networking the problem is still apparent. I have tried making sure that a directory named "shell" leads to explorer.exe after starting in safe mode with command prompt (I found that advice via google), but it already lead there, so that didn't make any difference!

I'm pretty basic with computers, so if any help could be given in a step-by-step fashion I'd be very appreciative!

Thanks in advance, and merry Christmas!

I have just discovered that I can open internet explorer, due to the pop-up page which blocks the desktop being a huge internet explorer window and me not being connected to the internet. (I click diagnose connection problems and a usable internet explorer window pops up)
