I realised I'd been using my monitor at a low resolution, so I changed it to the maximum and recommended resolution (2560x1440).

Everything looks great now, EXCEPT that video streaming is far less smooth than it was. This happens on various platforms (BBC, Youtube, etc)

If video is downloaded first, it plays fine, so I'm wondering if it's something to do with streaming settings, but I have no idea what to do about that.

    Any help appreciated!!

So that's interesting. I am using Chrome, but have just tried it in IE and it works fine there. So you're right it's a browser issue. Chrome is my browser though. What are the settings to make streaming video work at higher resolutions in Chrome?

Resolution shouldn't matter. Browsers don't use desktop resolution as a factor in download speed. Having said that, most sites such as YouTube allow you to select the video resolution. The default setting is "auto" which takes your bandwidth into consideration for selecting the video quality. You can, however, override the default. So if you have "4K" selected, for example, it will always use the 4k stream (if the video has that version available) regardless of your internet speed.

Thank you. My settings seem to be fine on YouTube, etc, but this has only happened since changing the screen resolution, and only in Chrome - not IE. How can I resolve this and watch streaming video in Chrome smoothly?
