Is the power LED lit on the printer? Any blinking LEDs or any Error code being displayed?

Can you check the USB port on the computer by temporarily unplugging the printer and trying to read something like a USB flash drive?

the printer is plugged in with the usb connected to my laptop. The power light is on and the only extra lights on are for ink because i know i need more...but the computer itself all of a sudden does not recognize my printer

Are there any kind of Canon utilities available that may be able to communicate with the printer and possibly troubleshoot the problem?

Is there a possibility that one of the ink tanks is being read as empty and the printer will not print because of that?
