This is probably a stupid question...but can you ssh into a Linux machine from Windows??

of course you can... (do you mean install linux) its really easy, the setup will either format your pc and install a fresh copy of linux, or you can install linux alongside windows, and it comes with all the software you need to do it.

you may want to move this to the linux forum fir more specialised installation help, if you wish to :D

I use Putty to SSH into my Linux server from my Windows Machine.

And I also use a SecureShell FTP client to transfer files from my Windows machine to my Linux server. You cand find it here.

It also has a SSH client but I like using Putty for that.
