    Hi there,

When I open the Internet Explorer some stupid search page (site?) shows up. I did a check with Spybot and nothing was found.

After checking with Ad aware, 3 "Coolwebsearch"-objects were found. I removed the objects but after opening the Internet Explorer the "search page" showed up again. After that I checked another time with Ad aware and the same three "Coolwebsearch"-objects came up in the scanning results again!

This is my Hijack log file:

Does anybody knows what to do? Maybe there is some other rubbish on my computer as well. Please say so if you see something strange.

you are infected with a program that changes the default website home, search and favorites to an unwanted site. It is runned when ever you boot you computer and also when you open I.Exporer or otjet browsers. The file name is ichost.exe it is ussualy hiden in the c:windows\ folder somewhere and even when you find the folder containing it it is invisible.
You must download the software called: "CWShredder" which tracks down and cleans this tipe of files.
Close your browser before running it and then open you browser and clean the messy files. Tools, InternetOptions, deletefiles, deletecookies, set your home page to whatever most you like. Also clean the favorites foldes.
This should fix the problema. If not let me know, so I can tell you how to clean the regedit folder.
    :)

Click here to download CWShredder. Close all browser windows,UnZip the file, click on the cwshredder.exe then click "Fix" (Not "Scan only") and let it do it's thing.

When it is finished restart your computer.

IMPORTANT!: To help prevent this from happening again, I strongly recommend you install the patches for the vulnerabilities that this hijacker exploits.

The simplest way to make sure you have all the security patches is to go to Windows update and install all "Critical Updates and Service Packs"

Come back here and post another Hijack This log and we'll get rid of what's left.

Thanks again Cookie! (y) I'm trying to watch the race and do this too!

Bu all means you must update to the latest version of Hijack This before posting the next log.
