I used it successfully as recently as yesterday, but today I can't open it; I get a message about "WLXPhoto...". I have tried to look for solution all over the web, but I get nothing but confusion. Also, there seem to be some suspicious outfits pretending to be WMM.

    Thanks, Boyd Bilbo

Jim, I have tried that several times so far, however, I haven't done it with a reboot, as you suggest. I will do that now and let you know the results. Thanks for helping me,

    Boyd.

I found 260 sources from which to install it! So far, the ones I've tried all have malware and unwanted software. I didn't have this problem when I initially installed it. What's up? Do you know of a safe way to install it?

    Thanks,

    Boyd.

Don't click on the link on the right to run a scan to fix dll errors!!!

I do trust dlldump but I'd also say after downloading the proper dll, scan the file to be sure it is clean.
    http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll...ll/15.4.3508.1109_ship.wlx.w4m4/download.html

I checked and the only place I have wlxphotobase.dll is on the XP partition. There it is 19kb. The Win 7 appears to be 33.4kb.

Also scroll down and see the proper placement of this dll in Win 7 once it is downloaded. You might want to put it at both places: in the program directory and in system32.

On my XP partition, it is located in the photogallery program directory.

I'm an old (79) dude and have only been computing for 7 or 8 years, self-taught with a dummies book. I'm advanced at Photoshop, but nothing else. I appreciate your trying to help me, but I don't think I even HAVE xp on this computer. My cognitive skills seem to be humming right along, but I wasn't born knowing computers and have had no schooling. The frustrating thing about Windows movie maker is that it worked fine for me yesterday; I was able to make a slideshow with no problems. I want to change it slightly now, and the software WMM won''t work. I can't even download it.

    Thanks,

    Boyd.

Goto Control Panel and open "System". That will show you the installed OS and version.

    Hi Boyd,

If nothing else works, you can try a System Restore.

    System Restore
    • Press and hold the Windows key + R on your keyboard.
    • In the Run box, type rstrui.exe and hit Enter.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your computer to a date before the issue(s) started.

    1. Click only the link to download the dll nothing else on that page.
    <Link removed @ plodr request - Etaf >

    2. Download it to your desktop so you can find it. If it is nowhere to be found, then look in the downloads folder and drag it to the desktop. If you don't know where your download folder is, ask and I will give you a way to find it.

    3. What security programs are on your computer? Right click the download and you probably see Scan with name of an antivrus on the computer. Click that to let your av program scan the tiny file.

    4. Open Windows Explorer NOT Internet Explorer (right click Computer and select Open to get Windows Explorer).

    5. In the left pane, click the + in front to C.

    6. Still in the left pane, click the + in front of Windows.

    7. Still in the left pane, click on system32.

    8. Drag the dll you downloaded from the desktop to the right pane of system32. You can put it anywhere; windows will move it alphabetically after you close Windows Explore.

Cody, I tried system restore 4 times with different restore points. Each time I got a message saying it was unsuccessful.

Liz, I tried the software you told me to, and it found several errors, but it would only fix them if I paid money. I'm an old dude on a small Social Security check per month.

... then I get this message window. I went to device manager and tried to update the video driver, but it said I have the latest one.

Can someone please remove the link in post #9. It redirects to crapware; it does not download the dll. Apparently the site now lies!!! It used to be trustworthy.

Paste this into your browser and download the dll that is missing
    Code:
    http://www.walagata.com/w/perk/WLXPhotoBase.dll
Then follow steps 4 through 8.
