I have a friend who was given an e-machine with Windows XP Pro and has been using it for the past six months without too many problems.

Recently however she is not able to get past the log-on screen because her password is not being recognized. She says the only thing different that she has done is for some reason, disconnecting the mouse while in operation.

Does anyone have any solutions and if so can her system be set up not having to use a password?

    Thanks,

    TommyD

Did she also try logging in with the built in account named Administrator? If she is using XP Pro with the Welcome Screen, hold down the ctrl + alt keys and tap the delete key twice. This will get you to the Classic login. Have her try and login with the username Administrator with no password.
