    Problem Summary:
    I have a list of Names in column A, & the Number of Hours Training that each person has completed in column B. I want to summarise this data, so I know the % no. of people whose no. of training hours lies between 2 values.

    Problem detail:
    I want separate columns with headings as follows:

    Country;
    % no. of people doing 0 to 8 hours;
    % no. of people doing 9 to 16 hours;
    % no. of people doing 17 to 24 hours;
    % no. of people doing 25 to 32 hours;
    % no. of people doing 33 to 40 hours

    Note that each person's name is recorded once only.

    What formulas are required to show a count (or better still a %) of records between given values?

    Any tips much appreciated!

    Hi, Jen.

    I've attached a sample file with all the formulas you need.

    It is called jennie.txt.
    Save it to your hard drive.
    Right-click and rename it to jennie.xls.
    THEN open it.

    Hope it helps!

    You'll note that some of the formulas have {} the curly brackets on them. When you type these formulas, instead of hitting Enter as usual, you will hit Ctrl+Shift+Enter. This makes them an Array formula, and puts the curly brackets on it. You do NOT type the curly brackets.

    Dreamboat,
    It works!! You've just shone a torch on a whole new area of Excel to get to the bottom of - arrays.

    Thanks yet again for the expert advice!
