when my computer is running, especially when i have just booted it and its loaded, my computer seems to lag uncontrollably and basically won't process any commands. ive gone to windows task manager and located that svchost.exe is causing all the problem. when i end the task, my visual stuff like the things that make it look nice dissapeared and my sound stops functioning until i restart my pc again. im assuming it has something to do with graphics or sound driver.

ive had this issue before and i had to wipe out my drive and start all over again thinking it was some problem. ive run spyware programs just in case...nothing. Im running Windows XP on a compaq presario. Need HELP!!

If the update causes problems you can roll back the driver by going to device manager and double clicking on your Display driver and then click the Driver tab and click on Roll-Back driver.

Sounds like we need an HJT log and the full hardware specs on the pc.

Have you done the Bios uodate for it 05-2005 3.25

Try re-seating your Video card and blowing the slot out.

How much memory do you have and is it one stick or more?

Understand.......we will do things one at a time

for memory Press the Windows Logo key + Pause Break keys together and at the bottom should be the amount of Ram.
