What e-mail client are you using?

Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs tab
In the E-mail: field verify Outlook Express is showing as the default e-mail client.

Tools > Accounts > (Account Name) > Properties > Connection tab
If checked, remove the check mark for: Always connect to this account using:
Apply, OK to save and close.

Repeat the steps above for each additional e-mail account you have.
Send yourself a Test message to test.

Let us know if that makes a difference or not.
