Hey everyone, can anyone help me understand the workings of symlinks and mklinks in windows? I need to set up a directory that reads files from multiple directories but doesn't overwrite the files in its own directory but instead prioritizes the files in the linked directories until they are no longer present.

Basically I want to set up a mods file that is linked to a game's system files but I don't want the mod's files to overwrite the game's files even if duplicate files occur. I have seen this done in linux with union file systems but I thought Id give windows a chance [ I'm not very good with linux :c ]

Any ideas anyone?

-Thanks in advance :)

Should I have placed this under a different topic? Should thread be moved?

What you're looking for is more in the realm of a batch file or VBS script, neither of which is my forte.
