system idle process

    What is "system idle process"? When I call up task manager it is using about 99% of my cpu power when nothing else is really running.

    Just curious.

    It's an idle loop the OS is running when the CPU has no other tasks to perform, ie - whenever you are not using the full capacity of your CPU.
