I am running Windows98se. Have a 3 year old pentium that has been great. 512 ram....keep at least 1 mg of memory open on 3mg hard drive. I've installed and run Ad-aware...and Norton updates...no viruses or worms. I'll be using the pc..just surfing the web...typing in Word...whatever...and the pc locksup. Can't even do a soft boot....have to unplug it. Sometimes it just reboots, skipping the lockup part. Never any error message. I've opened up the box and checked connections...done scandisk...defrag, no help. I do notice that if I put a cd in one of the drives... it locks up immediately. Also locks up 50% of the time when I'm downloading e-mail. 78% of my resources are free. This just started several weeks ago when I subscribed to DSL. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know, but mine use to do this too. But after replacing the hard drive and ram I've only had occasional lockups. It could be bad ram, trying running a test on it.
