Hello all. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop that is giving me problems. When you turn it on, it cycles through the "Windows" screen with the F2/F12 options. Then it comes up to the screen for me to go into safe mode. No matter what mode is selected, it will only go to the next screen, fault out, and reboot the system. I ran a diagnostics test and came back with the error code 2000-0146. I know it is a hard drive fault. I have ordered a new hard drive to replace as I am PRETTY sure this is the problem, though if anyone has any other ideas, I would love to hear them. The OS running is Vista.

Are you needing to try and recover any files from your hard drive or do you have them all backed up?
If you don't particuarly need anything off the drive, have you tried a format and re-install of your operating system?

Forget last comment.
After researching into it a little bit error code 2000-0146 indicates the Drive is failing and needs replaced.
(this comes direct from Dell support)
