    Hi,
I got a problem with my PC (WindowsXP) can anyone help?
My System Restore function is not working.

In System Properties dialog box I have only 6 active programs:
    Advanced
    Automatic Updates
    Remote
    General
    Computer Name
    Hardware
    System Restore (not displayed)

Is there any way to solve this problem without re-installing Windows, did have this problem from the day my PC was upgraded to WindowsXP. Interesting to know how to solve this problem.

    Thank you in advance,
    Brunner

Hi Brunner sorry Ican't help you out with your problem, because I am experiencing the same problem as you. Don't know if I got a virus that is causing the problem or not, because a virus scan doesn't show any virus, and also I am having problems accessing my email in MSN

Do you have it turned on? Go to control panel, system, then system restore and uncheck (turn off system restore on all drives.)

And further to stu37's advice, and at risk of stating the obvious, the earliest restore point will be the one you create today. If it wasn't turned on before, it doesn't have data to work from so it can't take you back in time.

Why not post back with details of why you think you need it.

run adaware and spybot first [links below], then if no improvement there, then a couple of tweak fixes are possible,-without reinstalling xp  - that I or others will detail to you soon after.

    Hello,

Thanks for the feedback. Have done the following which I normally do ones a month:

    Virus Scan (Macafee)
    Anti Spyware Scan (Macafee)
    Spybot Scan

My System Restore function, as usual (missing). Can somebody out-there help to solve my problem?

Look forward to hear from someone soon.

    Thank you
    Brunner
