    Your screenshot image is blank.

Why are you wanting to do a system restore?

    Computer Specifications
XP Pro SP 2, intel core2 duo E7200, 2GB Ram

Did you ever upgrade Windows XP Pro SP2 to SP3?

That's how it appears whenever i try to open it.

No. I tried to do a little tweak in the registry coz I wanted to install BitDefender Plus but my computer showed some error and that didn't work out. So I had the backup registry which I successful replaced it in safe mode.

So what do I have to do now ?

How did you replace the registry in Safe Mode? It is in use then and you should not be able to replace any of its files.

You will need to replace the user registry, too.

I had taken the backup before making any changes. So i doubled clicked the backed-up registry file and restarted so it started working again.

What is the User registry ??

Backing up and restoring just the registry never turns out well. The registry is constantly changing.

Try a restore from the safe mode command prompt.

System Restore should be found here!
    C:\Windows\INF\sr.inf
    Right click - click Install.

Care to elaborate? What's "not working"? You get an error? You don't know how to boot to safe mode with a command prompt? They keyboard doesn't respond? Monkeys flew out of the power supply?

When i try to open the system restore it doesn't open. If i keep on trying then after sometime it opens but it appears blank as i've mentioned.

i'm not getting any error. I've tried in boot to safe mode with cmd prompt. but no avail

I've tried all the possible ways mention but no avail. results are the same.

I've also tried the windows repair but nothing worked !!!

    What to do ???

So immediately after you execute this command:

"At the command prompt, type %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER."

Nothing whatsoever happens? You just get a cursor, and it's as if you didn't type anything at all?

Exactly, nothing happens. Yes I just get the cursor only. YES

Plus one more thing. The system restore process "rstrui.exe" is running when seen in the task manager.

    What next ?
